File storage
Buckets for files of any size, reachable from apps, the web and any S3 tool.
Open in the consoleA bucket stores files (objects) under keys like photos/2026/cat.jpg. Every file is kept on three nodes. Apps reach buckets through a binding, people through a public address or signed links, and backup tools through the S3 API.
Create a bucket
Under File storage choose a name and where the bytes live:
- Platform storage (default): spread across the platform's shared drives and kept on three nodes.
- Your own rclone remote: your own storage (S3, B2, Google Drive and more). Add your rclone config at /flare/r2/rclone first; the bucket list then shows
rclone:<remote>as its backend.
From an app
await env.FILES.put("avatars/42.png", request.body, {
httpMetadata: { contentType: "image/png" },
});
const obj = await env.FILES.get("avatars/42.png");
if (!obj) return new Response("Not found", { status: 404 });
return new Response(obj.body, { headers: { "content-type": obj.httpMetadata.contentType } });
