Mailboxes

Real mailboxes on your own domain, in any mail app or the inbox in the console.

Mailboxes give the people at your domain a normal email account: IMAP, POP3 and SMTP for every mail app, webmail in the console, filters, and app passwords. Mail is stored on the edge mail nodes.

Before you start

Add and verify the domain under Email routing first, including its MX record. Mailboxes can only be created on domains you own.

Create a mailbox

1Open Mailboxes and, under Your domains, turn on mailboxes for the domain. From then on its mail goes to mailboxes instead of the routing rules, and mail for addresses without a mailbox is refused.
2Create the mailbox: the address, a display name and a password or app password.
3Optionally open Bring existing mail and enter the old server's IMAP or POP3 details. The import runs in the background; its progress shows on the mailbox page and you can stop it. The old password is used only for this import and then deleted. Importing is offered only when a mailbox is created.
